09/01/2024: Breckland seeks public views on protecting Thetford built heritage

Breckland Council are seeking the views of members of the public as they update their approach to preserving and enhancing Thetford's built heritage. 

The council are currently updating their appraisal of the towns Conservation Area in partnership with Thetford Town Council.

This will update the previous Conservation Area Appraisal to reflect how the town has changed and will also set out an approach to preserve and enhance the Conservation Area through the careful management of development.

It will also provide guidance for the owners of properties within the Conservation Area on how they can safeguard and enhance the built heritage of the town.

Members of the public can have their say by visiting https://www.breckland.gov.uk/business-growth/thetford before 23 February 2024.

Councillor Sarah Suggitt, Breckland Deputy Leader and Executive Member for Strategic & Operational Planning commented: "At Breckland Council we are passionate about the preservation and enhancement of our built heritage.

"We want to hear the views of members of the public so that our approach to protecting and enhancing Thetford's Conservation Area truly reflects their needs and wishes.

"Like Swaffham, we are keen to get our approach to conservation right in Thetford.
