03/06/2025: Latest round of funding support for Breckland businesses now open

Businesses in Breckland are being encouraged to apply for funding which has been made available to help them to grow, diversify, and innovate.

Breckland Council is inviting applications for the latest round of the Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF) grants, which it is distributing from the UK Government to help rural businesses.

The fund is already delivering real impact across Breckland. In the previous round, 57 funding awards were made to businesses and community groups, helping to unlock a total investment of £3.24 million into the district.

The English Whisky Co. received £50,000 to build a bonded warehouse for 4,000 casks, boosting production capacity and supporting other small distillers.

Meanwhile, The Fox Inn in Garboldisham, a community-owned hub, used £17,000 to improve accessibility.

Swaffham's GBSE, a local property letting company, received £8,250 to restore heritage shopfronts in Plowright Place, which has helped to enhance the town centre building, preserving its appeal and historic character.

The new round of funding continues Breckland Council's commitment to supporting a resilient, thriving rural economy. Capital grants are available to support new Business Start-ups and established businesses, helping to fund improvements such as new buildings and equipment, which will enable growth and diversification.

Councillor Paul Claussen, Executive Member for Economic Development and Growth at Breckland Council, said: "The Rural England Prosperity Fund is helping us unlock real potential in our rural areas - supporting business start-up, growth and innovation. This latest round is another fantastic opportunity for rural businesses to invest in their future and make a lasting impact on their area."

Applications are open now and will be assessed on a rolling basis. Funding is available through 2025, but early applications are encouraged due to limited funds.
