28/08/2025: Breckland Council Planning Notice: Brookside Farm Poultry Unit (Hook 2 Sisters), Great Hockham, NR17 1ER

A Breckland Council Spokesperson, said:

"The council is aware that there is considerable public interest in the unauthorised construction of agricultural buildings at Brookside Farm Poultry Unit (Hook 2 Sisters), Great Hockham, NR17 1ER, and has acted to halt all unauthorised works by serving a Temporary Stop Notice under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.

"The notice was served on 20 August 2025 and is effective for 56 days. The landowners have indicated they are in the process of submitting a retrospective planning application. If the application is not forthcoming before the notice expires, the council will consider all other options including moving to a Full Stop Notice and Enforcement Notice. The council has not given any guarantee that any planning application will be successful.

"It is of note that the land benefits from an extant planning permission for three poultry units to the south. These units can lawfully continue to operate, and there may be works and vehicle movements associated with that use. It is also of note that the landowner and operators may use the land to store materials for future use. To ensure compliance with the notice, Planning Enforcement officers will carry out unannounced inspections."
