Breckland Council has awarded £10,000 to local organisations in its latest round of grants, bringing the total of Inspiring Communities Match Funding Grants released to more than £100,000.

The district council's grants support local community groups and charities to continue to make a positive impact in the district, tackling vulnerability and improving the health and wellbeing of residents. Delivered in partnership with Norfolk Community Foundation, the three-year grant scheme is committed to building a happier, healthier district, with thriving, better-connected communities.

The latest recipients include The Caring Together Charity, in Swaffham, which was awarded £5,000 to deliver counselling for unpaid family carers living in Breckland.

The Thetford Vineyard Church also received £5,000 to contribute to the operating costs of the Growkids project in Thetford, a scheme that provides free clothes for children aged 0-11 years.

Victoria Bush, Senior Pastor and Growkids co-ordinator, said: "The funding has been a lifeline for us to continue to serve residents of Breckland, providing second-hand clothing in a safe, warm space with play equipment for children, free refreshments and lots of support and signposting. We have had overwhelmingly positive feedback from everyone who uses the service and it is heart warming to see mums and dads coming together and offering support and guidance."

Cllr Tristan Ashby, Executive Member for Health and Communities, said: "We are thrilled to reach the £100,000 milestone in our Inspiring Communities Match Funding Grants. The council will continue to fund initiatives that make a real difference to people's lives and building a happier, healthier Breckland will remain one of our top priorities."
