02/10/2025: Breckland launches 'Bowl for Health' to enhance health and wellbeing in district

Breckland Council is excited to announce the launch of the 'Bowl for Health' initiative in partnership with Active Norfolk and Sport England.
Bowl for Health is an 8-week programme targeting those aged over 40 who have a long-term health condition, chronic illness, or experience social isolation in collaboration with the local bowls club and the Bowls Development Alliance.
The free weekly bowls programme will enable residents to be physically active in a friendly and relaxed environment. Sessions will be based across some of Breckland's market towns including Thetford, Watton and Attleborough.
The partnership between Active Norfolk and Breckland Council has drawn down over £2,000 funding from Sport England's Movement Fund, which aims to get more people active, reduce the number of inactive people and tackle long-standing inequalities. This aligns with the Inspiring Communities commitment of helping residents to live safe and healthy lives by playing an active part in local communities.
Cllr Tristan Ashby, Executive Member for Health and Communities, said: "It is great to see the ongoing support we are able to provide to communities. This latest initiative provides a safe space for people with underlying health conditions or suffering from social isolation to come together and be active."
