Breckland Council has launched a new £100,000 grant scheme to support projects which enhance the district and meet the needs of local communities.

The new Pride in Breckland initiative was approved as part of the Council's annual budget setting, which was discussed and agreed by Members at their meeting in February.

The grant scheme will see a share of the £100k pot allocated to the town councils in Dereham, Swaffham, Watton, Thetford and Attleborough. Those organisations will then be able to use the one-off grants to support projects which benefit their towns.

Schemes which potentially could be supported through the grant scheme include those that enhance public spaces, support cultural, arts, or heritage initiatives, or enable environmental schemes such as tree planting and clean-up plans.

Cllr Sarah Suggitt, Breckland Council's Deputy Leader, commented: "This new grant scheme is about investing directly into our market towns and supporting projects that make a real difference to residents, businesses, and visitors.

"This money will help meet the specific needs of local communities and we look forward to seeing the creative projects that come to life through this grant."
