12 May 2026: Lorina Bulwer's textile testimonies - Ruth Burwood

Join Ruth Battersby, Senior Curator, Costume and Textiles at Norfolk Museum Service to learn about the amazing embroidered letters of Lorina Bulwer.  Lorina  was a resident in the workhouse in Great Yarmouth in the early years of the twentieth century, and while she was there she produced a number of incredible pieces of embroidery.  These are mainly outpourings of her thoughts, memories and emotions in 'stream of consciousness' style stitched texts on a double layer patchwork ground.
