Attending an interview

What should you bring with you?

When you attend an interview at Breckland Council, you will be required to bring various documents with you. Please bring original certificates or any relevant qualifications with you to your interview.

To comply with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 we also require all interviewed candidates to bring along 'documents which provide evidence of the right to work in the UK'.

You will receive a pre-employment medical declaration and rehabilitation of offenders form when you are invited to interview. You are required to complete both forms and return prior to your interview.

Access requirements

Please let us know in advance if you have a disability or have any other access requirements so we can ensure that you are able to fully participate in the interview process.

Criminal record checks

If the position you are interested in warrants contact with children, the elderly or other vulnerable people then you may be required to undertake a Criminal Records check via the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly the Criminal Records Bureau).  A disclosure is usually only carried out on successful candidates who have been selected for appointment, and any offer of employment will be conditional subject to the satisfactory completion of these checks. Your offer of appointment may therefore be withdrawn if your checks are not clear although having a criminal record will not necessarily preclude you from obtaining a position with the council.
